What
and How to Pack for your Child
The
next few weeks will be busy ones as you prepare for your child’s journey West.
Listed below are some recommendations we have for articles to bring
along. Of course, you will want to
keep your child’s load light. We
provide period clothing so the clothes your child shows up in are only worn for
a few hours that morning and are perfect to wear home.
Also, the Nichols Mercantile will be up and functional upon your
child’s arrival. We have many
hand made items for sale ranging from five cents to twenty dollars.
All
your child needs to bring is;
1.
Sturdy boots (Black or brown, please)
2.
Flannel pajamas or sweats to sleep in depending on weather
3.
Long handles (Long underwear)
4.
A few pair of underwear and socks (more if rainy)
5.
Lantern (Flashlight)
6.
Pillow
7.
A sleeping bag and pad (cabins and tents have hard wood floors)
8.
Picture box (Camera, if you wish)
9.
Bandana (Basic colors, please)
10.
Toiletries – washcloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, etc.
11.
A small rain poncho is good insurance
12.
A great appetite and friendly nature.
Don’t
bring;
-
Any
and all valuables, as well as any devices from the twentieth century!
Remember
– Non period toys such as game boys, etc. are defeating the purpose of the
experience. Please leave at home.
A book or journal, stuffed animal is a better choice.
Pack
everything in a large garbage bag and double it.
Then put a large label with your child’s name.
The teacher will label the cabin assignments for easy finding.
This saves so much time so we can get into the fun stuff!
Thanks!
